Military & Veteran Counseling in Arvada | TRICARE Providers
Specialized, Confidential Therapy for Active Duty, Veterans, and Military Families
PROUDLY ACCEPTING TRICARE WEST
You Served. You Sacrificed. Now, Let Us Serve You.

We understand that military life is not just a job; it is a profound culture with unique, invisible demands that shape the entire family structure. At New Heart Counseling Centers, we believe that high-quality, trauma-responsive healing is a right you have rightfully earned. Our clinical startup provides a strictly confidential, nonjudgmental sanctuary for Active Duty personnel, Veterans, and military dependents across the Denver metro area, with dedicated offices in both Arvada and Centennial.
Your service may be over, or your current mission may be ongoing, but you do not have to carry the aftermath of it in silence. We completely remove "being broken" from our vocabulary—instead, we focus on honoring your individual path, agency, and operational pace as you navigate "surviving brokenness." Whether you are processing combat trauma, navigating complex deployment or reintegration cycles, or managing the systemic strain of frequent relocations (PCS), our team provides a secure, predictable place to land entirely outside your chain of command.
Moving beyond traditional "talk therapy," our military-informed clinicians utilize advanced, evidence-based frameworks to address the delicate complexities of a dysregulated nervous system. Through specialized care like EMDR, Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) for PTSD, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), we help you process internal stuck points and safely regulate your survival responses. Your story will always be held with the deepest level of dignity, care, and cultural respect.
Finding a therapist who genuinely "gets it" is often the biggest barrier to care for service members and their families. For our lead military-informed clinician, Dan Meyer, this mission is deeply personal.
As a proud "Blue Star Father" whose son served during Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF), Dan lived the military reality from the home front. He walked beside his son through the high-stakes terrain of reintegration, witnessing firsthand how the deep echoes of Combat PTSD and Moral Injury ripple across a soldier's life and family dynamic. This lived experience became the driving force behind his advanced clinical training, fueling his commitment to providing an authentic, nonjudgmental sanctuary where your story is held with the absolute highest standard of care, dignity, and respect.
Dan’s Specialized Military Qualifications:
- StrongStar Initiative Training: Dan has completed advanced clinical training in specialized, trauma-responsive treatments for Combat PTSD through this premier military research consortium.
- Moral Injury Clinical Expertise: Having co-presented on Moral Injury during his final residency, Dan understands the delicate complexities of the deep internal conflicts and "stuck points" that frequently follow combat operations, helping veterans process these wounds without facing re-traumatization.
- Crisis Response & Nervous System Safety: He holds verified training in Crisis Response Planning and Lethal Means Safety, ensuring a highly secure, reliable, and practical place to land during life's heaviest seasons.
- PsychArmor Certified: Nationally recognized training in military culture, guaranteeing that your individual path, language, and experiences are met with immediate cultural competence.
When you step into our offices in Arvada or Centennial and sit across from Dan, you are not just meeting with a skilled practitioner utilizing advanced frameworks like CPT and DBT. You are collaborating with a professional who honors your agency and pairs clinical mastery with the lived understanding of a military father. You do not have to carry your burdens in silence anymore.

Treating Combat PTSD, Moral Injury & Transition Stress
Combat PTSD vs. Operational Stress & Nervous System Regulation
We utilize specialized, trauma-responsive clinical frameworks to systematically address hypervigilance, flashbacks, intrusive memories, and emotional avoidance. However, we also recognize the cumulative wear and tear of a high-operational tempo. Whether you are dealing with diagnosed PTSD or a chronically dysregulated nervous system from the relentless stress of command, operational evaluations, and hyper-readiness, our team provides a safe, highly stable place to land.
Processing Moral Injury
Distinct from traditional PTSD, Moral Injury occurs when you have had to make, witness, or fail to prevent difficult decisions that deeply violate your core moral code. If you are wrestling with severe guilt, shame, spiritual alienation, or a profound loss of trust following your service, we completely remove "being broken" from our vocabulary. We provide a faith-sensitive, deeply respectful sanctuary to process these internal stuck points at your own pace, helping you navigate the delicate complexities of moral conflict and move toward restoration.
Transition, Agency & Identity
Who are you when the uniform comes off? The shift back into civilian life is one of life’s heaviest seasons, frequently accompanied by a sudden loss of deep camaraderie, structure, and mission-driven purpose. We honor your individual path and agency as you navigate surviving brokenness or displacement during this transition. With accessible care available at our Arvada and Centennial locations, we ensure you do not have to carry the weight of redefining your civilian identity in silence.
Get to the root of the issue in a safe, judgment-free space.

Military Family Counseling & Deployment Support
Military service shapes the entire household, demanding an immense amount of resilience from partners and children alike. At New Heart Counseling Centers, we recognize that families face their own unique heavy seasons. Our clinical startup provides specialized, family-centered support designed to hold your collective stories with dignity, helping every member of your household find a safe, predictable place to land.
- The Deployment Cycle & Nervous System Friction: We provide collaborative coping strategies to address the anticipatory anxiety of pre-deployment, the prolonged isolation of separation, and the complex relational friction that often surfaces during reintegration. We work with couples to navigate these shifts smoothly, protecting your bond without causing further dysregulation.
- Supporting Military Children: Frequent relocations (PCS) and the constant background anxiety of having a parent in harm's way can leave children feeling displaced and overwhelmed. Our child clinicians utilize evidence-based Play Therapy and youth-centered frameworks to honor your child's individual voice, helping them gently process grief, build agency, and express feelings they might otherwise carry in silence.
- Navigating Secondary Trauma: Caring for a spouse who returns with Combat PTSD can create deep systemic fatigue and emotional exhaustion. We offer dedicated, trauma-responsive care for military spouses, validating your unique experience and providing a nonjudgmental sanctuary where you can process your own burdens, find tools for co-regulation, and heal from the impact of secondary stress.
Confidentiality Outside the Chain of Command
We know that for Active Duty personnel, privacy is paramount.
At New Heart Counseling Centers, we understand the immense pressure to remain "mission-ready." Seeking support should never feel like a risk to your career. Our clinical startup is intentionally structured to provide a secure, independent sanctuary completely separate from the military system, ensuring your story is held with the absolute highest level of dignity, respect, and privacy.
- Independent Private Practice: Our offices are located off-base in both Arvada and Centennial, completely removed from your direct chain of command and military reporting structures.
- Strict HIPAA Protection: Your care, clinical notes, and identity are protected by federal confidentiality laws. Your command does not have automatic access to your records.
- A Neutral Safe Place to Land: This is an off-the-record space where you can speak with absolute freedom. Here, you can process command frustrations, moral injuries, or personal survival responses without fear of reprisal, judgment, or impact on your security clearance.
Navigating Your TRICARE West Insurance
We believe that high-quality, trauma-responsive care is a right you have earned, not a financial privilege. We are proud to break down systemic barriers by directly accepting TRICARE West. Here is how you can seamlessly access care at our clinics:
- Active Duty Family Members (Dependents): In most cases, you do not need a referral from a physician to see an out-of-network or preferred civilian provider. You have the agency to book your appointment directly with us today.
- Active Duty Service Members: To ensure TRICARE covers your sessions entirely, you will typically need a referral from your Primary Care Manager (PCM) to see a civilian specialist. Our team understands this process intimately and can help guide you through it to protect your privacy.
- Veterans & Retirees: We accept TRICARE West for retired service members and can assist you if you are currently transitioning from active duty to VA benefits or private commercial insurance plans.
